Hunt Area 151, Fall Creek, Wyoming

Steep, mountainous canyon and forest terrain along the Snake River and Idaho border in Teton County. Elevation range 5,956–9,457 ft. Lower elevations feature cottonwood/willow riparian corridors along the Snake River. Mid-elevations dominated by dense Engelmann spruce, fir, and lodgepole pine in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Upper elevations transition to subalpine meadows and rocky ridgelines. The unit is geographically compact — bounded by Wyoming Hwy 22 to the north, the Snake River to the west and south, and the Idaho state line to the west.

CWD: The Fall Creek elk herd (WGFD elk Area 85) and adjacent deer areas are included in WGFD annual CWD surveillance. Statewide carcass transport regulations apply: only boneless meat, cleaned hide (no head), cleaned skull/antlers, teeth, or finished taxidermy mounts may be transported within or out of Wyoming. Nonresident elk hunters note: WGFD requires nonresidents hunting in designated wilderness areas of Region H to be accompanied by a licensed Wyoming guide; Hunt Area 151 itself does not contain a designated wilderness. The white-tailed deer population in Area 151 is very small — all white-tailed deer license types reported zero harvest in 2025. The primary big-game draw for this unit is elk.
