Privacy Policy

FindYourUnit (“we,” “us”) runs findyourunit.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep collection to what the site needs to work.

Information we collect

• Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address, username, and a securely hashed password. Authentication is handled by our database provider, Supabase.
• Content you post. Forum threads, replies, and unit reports you submit are stored and shown publicly alongside your username.
• Usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referring site). Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.
• Outbound gear links.When you click a gear recommendation, we record which item was clicked, the destination URL, and your browser’s user-agent string. We do not tie these clicks to your account.
• Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep the message and your email address so we can respond.

Advertising and cookies

We may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

How we use information

• To run your account and display the content you post

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

We rely on Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Google Analytics, and Google AdSense. Each processes data under its own privacy policy. Links to retailers and other outside sites are governed by those sites’ policies, not ours.

Data retention and your choices

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing us. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data. We’ll honor those requests.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
