Hunt Area 135, West Green River, Wyoming

Elevation range 6,300–10,330 ft. Lower terrain (below 7,500 ft) is sagebrush, pinyon-juniper, and scrub oak — primarily winter range. Mid-elevations feature canyons with aspen pockets, meadows, sagebrush, and scrub oak. Upper elevations include timbered slopes of lodgepole pine, fir, and aspen with grassy openings. The northern portion has steep, rugged peaks and high-elevation basins with alpine tundra. The unit spans approximately 2,400 square miles in Lincoln and Sublette counties along the Wyoming–Idaho border, encompassing the west slope of the Wyoming Range, the Ham's Fork Plateau, Rock Creek Ridge, and the LaBarge Creek drainage.

CWD monitoring: Hunt Area 135 is a voluntary CWD monitoring focus area (2024 program). Hunters harvesting deer in area 135 are asked — but not required — to submit a lymph node sample. The area is managed by the Jackson Region (307-733-2321). Mandatory CWD submission applied in 2024 only to areas 22, 70, 88, 89, 157, and 171. The Wyoming Range mule deer herd (areas 134/135/143–145) suffered severe winter losses in 2022–23 (population dropped from roughly 30,000 to 11,000 by early 2024); the 2025 herd recovery is underway with population at 15,500 (up from 13,200 in 2024) and buck:doe ratio back at objective (38:100), but the WGFD 2025 hunt forecast classified area 135 among units expecting 'tough conditions' (areas 82, 132–135, and 168). The General deer season carries a 4-point-or-better antler restriction for mule deer (youth are exempt). The unit functions primarily as winter range; deer from neighboring areas (143, 144, 145) migrate in seasonally. Nonresident General deer licenses are Region G (areas 135, 143–145); quota 250 nonresident tags for the entire region. Elk are managed under separate elk hunt area 102 (West Green River) which overlaps geographically with deer area 135. Pronghorn under antelope area 93. Moose under area 26 (Lincoln). Lincoln County Walk-In Area 6 (8,081 acres, open Aug 15–Mar 1) is the primary formalized walk-in parcel within the unit.
