West slope of the Teton Range. Elevation range 6,290–13,518 ft. Terrain transitions from sagebrush and riparian corridors in lower drainages through dense conifer forest (lodgepole, Engelmann spruce, subalpine fir) into high alpine meadows and shale-rock ridgelines above treeline. Numerous ponds, lakes, and streams throughout. Jedediah Smith Wilderness occupies a large portion of the unit.
