About this unit
Wyoming Hunt Area 133 (Uinta) is a relatively small, deer-only unit in Uinta County in the extreme southwest corner of Wyoming, bounded by I-80 to the north, the I-80 Business Loop and Blacks Fork River along the eastern boundary, and the Wyoming-Utah state line to the south and west. Roughly 80% of the unit is private land, concentrating hunter access on a limited public footprint; mule deer are the primary quarry with a secondary white-tailed deer opportunity. The Uinta herd suffered severe 2022-23 winter kill and remained in conservative recovery management through 2026, resulting in short General seasons and no doe/fawn licenses in this specific unit.
Moderate high-desert terrain in Uinta County along the Wyoming-Utah border, elevation approximately 6,700 to 9,700 feet. The Blacks Fork River drainage forms the eastern boundary. Vegetation ranges from sagebrush flats and cattle pasture at lower elevations to long draws with juniper, aspen, and buckbrush at higher elevations. Significant private ranch land dominates the unit. Topography features rolling hills and moderate elevation changes.

1. DEER ONLY UNIT: No elk or pronghorn seasons exist in Hunt Area 133. Elk regulations (Chapter 7) list no season for this area; pronghorn regulations (Chapter 5) use separate geographic area numbering. 2. UINTA HERD RECOVERY: The Uinta mule deer herd suffered severe winter mortality in 2022-23; WGFD 2025 forecast stated the herd was 'still recovering' with reduced older-age-class bucks. Hunters should expect conservative season structures through at least 2026-2027. 3. CWD STATUS: Per the 2025 WGFD CWD Surveillance Flyer (August 2025), Hunt Area 133 IS listed in the mandatory CWD sample submission area alongside Hunt Areas 130-135. Hunters who harvest a deer in Area 133 are required to submit a sample. Mandatory submission areas rotate annually; consult the current season's CWD flyer at wgfd.wyo.gov/CWD. 4. PRIVATE LAND DOMINANCE: Approximately 80% private land makes this one of the more access-restricted units in southwest Wyoming. Four Walk-In Areas totaling approximately 15,637 acres provide meaningful public access, but public ground sees concentrated pressure. 5. WALK-IN AREAS: Four WIAs (WIA 2, 3, 4, 5) fall within Hunt Area 133 per official WGFD Uinta County WIA listings. WIA 1 (505 acres) in Uinta County is valid for Hunt Area 132, not 133. 6. NONRESIDENT DRAW ODDS: Region K nonresident General deer (valid in areas 132-134, 168) has a quota of 200 per Chapter 6.
