Sign in to contributeSomervell County is one of the smallest counties in Texas, tucked into the Cross Timbers south of Fort Worth along the Paluxy River where Glen Rose sits amid cedar-cloaked limestone hills. The rugged Cross Timbers terrain creates exceptional white-tailed deer habitat, and despite the compact size, mature buck sightings are regular on well-managed private ranches. Wild turkeys use the riparian corridors and cedar-oak woodland throughout the year, adding a quality secondary pursuit to the deer hunting season.
