White-tailed deer and Rio Grande wild turkey thrive in the brushy draws and creek drainages fanning out from the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River. Hunting is quintessential private-land Texas, accessed primarily through leases on working cattle ranches.
Rolling mesquite grasslands cut by cedar-lined draws and creek drainages running north to the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River. Elevation transitions from flat southern plains to rugged brushy breaks along the river corridor.
Almost entirely private ranch and farmland with no significant WMAs or public hunting areas. Hunters gain access through private leases or landowner permission on working cattle ranches.
Moderate — strong deer and turkey populations attract lease hunters, but the private-land character and rural location keep overall pressure manageable.
Standard TPWD hunting license with deer tags. Rolling Plains counties fall under statewide antler restrictions requiring an unbranched main beam or 13-inch inside spread on bucks.
Rio Grande wild turkey are numerous in the cedar breaks along the Red River draws. Dove hunting is popular in harvested grain and sunflower fields. Feral hogs are common and huntable year-round.
