Sign in to contributeWoods County in northwest Oklahoma sits on the southern edge of the Great Plains where the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River cuts through rolling short-grass prairie and agricultural rangeland. Cottonwood-lined creek drainages concentrate deer in otherwise open country, and ring-necked pheasant populations make this a legitimate upland hunting destination in the northwestern tier. This is expansive ranch country where nearly all hunting depends on landowner permission or private lease arrangements.
Flat to gently rolling short-grass prairie and dryland agricultural land, broken by the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River and sandy creek drainages lined with cottonwood and sand plum thickets.
Almost entirely private ranch and agricultural land with very limited public access; no major WMAs within the county boundaries.
Low — vast private holdings and remote location keep hunting pressure minimal.
