Sign in to contributeCimarron County is the westernmost county of the Oklahoma Panhandle and the only county in the state where hunters can pursue pronghorn and mule deer, making it a singular destination for Great Plains mixed-bag hunting. The High Plains tablelands, sandy sage draws, and Black Mesa escarpment — the state high point at 4,973 feet — create habitat found nowhere else in Oklahoma. Ring-necked pheasant, Merriam turkey, and limited-draw pronghorn tags round out a hunting menu more reminiscent of Wyoming or Colorado than Oklahoma.
