Sign in to contributeChoctaw County occupies the timber-rich southeastern corner of Oklahoma where piney woods and bottomland hardwoods create some of the finest deer and turkey habitat in the state. The Little River drainage and adjacent bottomlands grow large-bodied whitetails in a landscape that feels closer to Arkansas than the Oklahoma that most hunters picture. Public land access through multiple WMAs and Hugo Lake Corps lands makes this an underrated destination for hunters willing to work the thick timber.

Choctaw WMA and Hugo WMA provide public hunting acreage; Corps of Engineers lands around Hugo Lake offer additional access; one of the better public-land options in southeastern Oklahoma
