DEC has historically not issued Deer Management Permits (DMPs) for antlerless deer in 6J due to lower deer densities — the unit does not currently have established buck take or population objectives requiring DMP management. Antlerless harvest is primarily limited to archery and muzzleloader seasons. As of 2026 DEC finalized regulations restoring antlerless harvest during the early muzzleloader season in Northern Zone WMUs including 6J.
