Flat to gently rolling mixed agricultural and suburban landscape on the Pine Barrens fringe; sandy loam soils supporting pitch pine, scrub oak, Atlantic white cedar swamps, and hardwood bottomlands. The zone is bisected by Routes 47 and 322 and is predominantly private farmland and residential.

Moderate — Glassboro WMA receives consistent local hunting pressure given limited public land acreage; private farm ground can offer lower pressure for those who secure permission.

DEER: Regulation Set 3. Fall Bow Sept 13 - Oct 31 (antlerless first required Sept 13-Oct 3); Permit Bow Nov 1-30; Winter Bow Jan 1-Feb 21. Six-Day Firearm Dec 8-13 (antlered). Permit Shotgun/Muzzleloader antlerless-only Dec 8-13, either-sex Dec 15-16, 20-24, 26-31. Bag limit 2 antlerless or 1 antlerless + 1 antlered across permit seasons. Centerfire and rimfire rifles prohibited statewide — shotgun slugs/buckshot or muzzleloader only for firearm seasons. Antlerless permits available first-come first-served (demand does not exceed quota). TURKEY: Zone falls within multiple spring turkey hunting areas covering Gloucester County (Areas 15, 20, and 21); spring permits via lottery, fall archery permit first-come. BEAR: Not applicable — DMZ 55 is in southern NJ (Gloucester County); bear hunting is restricted to northern counties (Sussex, Warren, Passaic, Morris).

Antlerless permit quotas far exceed hunter demand in DMZ 55, so bow, shotgun, and muzzleloader antlerless permits are available first-come first-served through NJDFW ELS with no draw required. Fall archery starts Sept 13 with a mandatory antlerless-first rule through Oct 3. Six-day firearm (shotgun/muzzleloader — rifles prohibited statewide) runs Dec 8-13. Long winter bow season extends through Feb 21. Glassboro WMA holds deer, turkey, and small game.
