Flat Atlantic coastal plain with river and creek bottomlands along the Maurice River, Cohansey River, and Buckshutem Creek. Agricultural fields interspersed with hardwood swamps and pine-cedar lowlands typical of southern New Jersey. Elevation changes are minimal. The area around Bridgeton and Millville is rural and largely agricultural with pockets of public and private preserved land.

Deer: Full season package applies — Fall Bow (Sept 13–Oct 31), Permit Bow (Nov 1–Dec 31), Six-Day Firearm (second Monday after Thanksgiving, 6 days), Permit Shotgun, Permit Muzzleloader (Dec–Jan). Antlered deer must have minimum 3 points on one side. Antlerless permits are zone-specific and quota-driven; hunters may purchase one permit per zone per permit season type. Turkey: Spring season open (youth period late April, general season late April through May); fall either-sex turkey season was closed statewide beginning Fall 2025. Bear: Not applicable — black bear range in NJ is restricted to northern counties (Sussex, Warren, Morris, Passaic); Cumberland County is outside the bear management zone.

Zone 31 carries a 3-point antler restriction (minimum 3 points on one side) for antlered deer, which skews harvest toward mature bucks. River and creek corridors funnel deer movement and create predictable stand locations. WMAs like Millville and Cohansey offer solid access without requiring private land permission. The zone is open to the full season suite including six-day firearm, shotgun permit, muzzleloader permit, and bow seasons.
