WMU G2, New Hampshire

Low-to-mid elevation mixed hardwood and conifer forest with agricultural river valleys along the Pemigewasset River corridor. Elevation ranges roughly 500–2,500 ft. Transitional habitat between the southern hill country and the White Mountains creates diverse edge cover. Town centers of Plymouth and Rumney provide agricultural land and orchard edges that concentrate deer.

One antlered buck statewide. Antlerless-only permits (AOPs) are unit-specific and issued by NHFG based on annual population objectives; G2 has historically received AOP allocations, available via the NHFG online license system. Crossbows are legal during archery season in WMU G2.

DEER: Archery Sept 15–Dec 15; regular firearms season typically late Oct through early Dec; muzzleloader season follows firearms. One buck per hunter statewide; unit-specific AOP required for antlerless. TURKEY: Spring season late April–late May (2 bearded birds); fall archery turkey concurrent with deer archery season. G2 is within the NH turkey range with a growing population. BEAR: Statewide bear season opens Sept 1; end date varies by WMU and method (archery, firearms, trapping with hounds). Bear permit required ($16 resident / $48 non-resident); baiting allowed with permit. MOOSE: WMU G2 is outside the core lottery moose zones (A, B, C in northern NH); moose are occasionally present but no meaningful permit allocation for this unit.

Multi-species potential with deer, turkey, and bear in a single unit. Low to moderate hunting pressure compared to southern NH WMUs. WMNF public land access to the north. River-bottom agricultural edges concentrate deer in archery and early firearms seasons. Good spring turkey hunting in the valley corridors.
