Southeastern Minnesota bluff country with steep hardwood-forested ridges, agricultural valleys, and river drainages. Mix of oak, maple, and basswood timber interspersed with crop fields of corn and soybeans. Typical of the Driftless Area influence with rugged topography and limited glacial till.

White-tailed deer are the primary target species with liberal bag limits in this CWD zone. Wild turkey are present in the bluff country hardwoods of southeastern MN and are huntable via spring and fall seasons. Pheasant numbers in this area are generally low as the bluff terrain is not prime pheasant habitat. Ruffed grouse may be present in forested areas but are not a primary draw. Bear and moose are not established in this part of the state.

Generous three-buck limit allows one buck per license type (archery, firearms, muzzleloader). Located in a CWD management zone with mandatory sampling on opening firearms weekend and carcass movement restrictions — hunters must receive a not-detected test result before moving whole carcasses outside the zone. No longer part of the late southeast B season. Deer feeding and attractant ban is in effect. Good agricultural edge habitat supports solid deer numbers.
