Sign in to contributeDPA 267 covers the central portion of Roseau County in northwestern Minnesota, a predominantly agricultural landscape of row crops, grassland, and wetlands with pockets of state forest and WMA access. The area carries a two-deer limit designation and offers low hunting pressure at roughly 3 hunters per square mile, with a 50% firearm success rate in 2024. The herd is recovering from back-to-back severe winters in 2021-22 and 2022-23 that increased fawn mortality.
Flat to gently rolling agricultural landscape in Roseau County; 57% annual row crops, 26% grassland and wetlands, 11% woody cover, with open water and scattered development comprising the remainder. Includes portions of Lost River State Forest and Roseau Lake WMA in the northern section.
29.5 sq mi of public hunting land out of 472 sq mi total (6%). Public lands include 13 sq mi State Wildlife Management Area (including Roseau Lake WMA), 13 sq mi State Forest (Lost River State Forest), and 3 sq mi misc. state land. White-tailed deer is the primary target species with a two-deer limit. The mix of row crops, wetlands, and grasslands also supports ring-necked pheasant and ruffed grouse hunting opportunities. No documented moose, bear, or turkey populations of note in this area.
Two-deer limit (3D management designation). Low hunter density at ~3 hunters per sq mi. Strong 50% firearm success rate in 2024. Total 2024 harvest was 733 deer. Herd recovering from severe winter impacts of 2021-22 and 2022-23; consecutive mild winters of 2023-24 and 2024-25 have aided recovery. Archery season Sept 13 - Dec 31; Statewide Firearms Nov 8-16; Muzzleloader Nov 29 - Dec 14.
