Deer hunting is the primary draw, with bucks using creek corridors as travel lanes between large row-crop fields throughout the season.
Gently rolling till plain transitioning toward more dissected creek drainages in the south; Shoal Creek and South Fork Kaskaskia River drain through timbered corridors; Lake Hillsboro (approximately 640 acres) provides flatwater habitat within the county interior.
