The rugged terrain of sandstone bluffs, hollows, and ridge-top timber creates low-pressure hunting for deer and turkey that feels more like Appalachia than the Midwest. Hunters willing to navigate the demanding terrain find genuinely uncrowded opportunities on substantial Shawnee National Forest public ground.
