Twiggs County sits at the geographic center of Georgia on the Fall Line, where gently rolling lower Piedmont terrain in the north transitions to flat Coastal Plain pine flatwoods in the south. Bond Swamp NWR's permit and lottery system naturally caps pressure on that property. Ocmulgee WMA sees moderate use, but its 15,000-acre footprint spreads hunters across a large landscape. Overall harvest pressure sits below the statewide average; the county is competitive during firearms opener weekends but is not crowded by central Georgia standards.

Statewide bag limit is 12 deer per season with a maximum of 10 antlerless and 2 antlered deer. One of the two antlered bucks must meet Quality Buck criteria — at least 4 antler points one inch or longer on one side, or a minimum outside antler spread of 15 inches. Twiggs County is in Georgia's Green zone: Special antlerless-only firearms weekend Oct. 4–5, 2025; Archery either-sex Sept. 13–Oct. 10; Primitive weapons either-sex Oct. 11–17; Regular firearms either-sex Oct. 18, 2025–Jan. 11, 2026. The fully either-sex regular firearms season and the 10-antlerless limit make this one of Georgia's most liberal-harvest frameworks, well-suited for aggressive doe management.

Eastern wild turkey: youth and mobility-impaired season March 21–22; private land statewide March 28; public land (WMAs and NWR) opens April 4 — all seasons close May 15; limit 2 gobblers per season, 1 per day; electronic calls prohibited. Feral hogs: no closed season and no bag limit on private land; on WMAs and Bond Swamp NWR hogs may be taken during any open season with legal weapons for that season; special WMA hog and coyote season runs May 16–31 with any legal firearm; night hunting with a hunter-carried or body-mounted light is permitted on private land with no bag limit. Black bear: Twiggs County is within the Central Georgia Black Bear range and Ocmulgee WMA was purchased partly to support this population; check current GADNR special regulations for any designated WMA bear hunts. Small game including squirrel, rabbit, and quail is available on WMAs and Bond Swamp NWR.
