Good areas to hunt and scout D12 for deer?

Looking for areas north of the Salton Sea that I should focus on for the Deer in the area. I reached out to fish and game and they mentioned the Salt Creek Area but I am not sure where most have success. CDFW said south of the 10 is a good place to start... open to ideas!
