White-tailed deer and wild turkey anchor the hunting calendar here, with mature bucks navigating dense timber and thicket cover year-round. Lease hunting dominates the landscape, though a handful of public wildlife management areas provide entry points for hunters without land connections.
Rolling West Gulf Coastal Plain with managed pine plantations, mixed pine-hardwood tracts, and creek-bottom hardwoods draining south toward Louisiana. Relatively flat to gently rolling with small creek drainages defining the landscape.
Primarily private timber company land and hunting leases. Cornie Creek WMA and a few smaller public tracts offer limited walk-in access. Private lease rates are competitive with neighboring south Arkansas counties.
Moderate. Lease culture organizes most of the land and limits uncontrolled walk-in pressure. Public WMA spots draw concentrated use from hunters seeking access without land connections.
OTC archery, muzzleloader, and firearm tags under standard Arkansas regulations. No antler restrictions apply in this zone.
Wild turkey are well-distributed through the pine-hardwood mix and bottomland timber. Squirrel and rabbit hunting available in creek-bottom hardwoods. Occasional waterfowl in flooded low-lying timber during winter.
Classic south Arkansas timber-country deer hunting with quality genetics in the pine-hardwood corridors. Spring turkey hunting in the piney woods draws dedicated local hunters year after year.
