Sign in to contributeClark County bridges the Ouachita Mountains to the west and the Coastal Plain to the south, creating a diverse hunting landscape anchored by the Caddo River and DeGray Lake. The county offers genuine variety - deer hunters work hardwood ridges and pine bottoms while DeGray Lake Corps of Engineers land provides substantial public access. Wild turkey densities benefit from the productive mix of upland pine-hardwood forest and river bottoms.
Transitional zone from Ouachita Mountain foothills to Coastal Plain, featuring hardwood ridges, pine-hardwood forest, the Caddo River corridor, and DeGray Lake impoundment near Arkadelphia.
DeGray Lake Resource Management Area (Corps of Engineers) provides thousands of acres of public hunting land; proximity to Ouachita National Forest to the west; private timberland with lease programs throughout.
Moderate - DeGray Lake public land draws hunters from the Arkadelphia area but the tract is large enough to absorb pressure; private land access is competitive.
OTC statewide license; zone regulations apply to bag limits.
Wild turkey are a genuine secondary draw with strong spring hunting in river bottom hardwoods; DeGray Lake coves support waterfowl hunting during migration.
DeGray Lake Corps land is one of the better public deer hunting options in southwest Arkansas; the Caddo River corridor concentrates deer movement during the November rut.
